Beth's Approach

With a background in psychotherapy, Beth's approach focuses on a safe and intentional method tailored for each individual singer. The process is methodical and considerate, grounding the singer and prioritizing their comfort at every step.

Beth's Methodology

Beth’s teaching philosophy is centered around a trauma-informed holistic approach.  Combining her psychotherapy training with an in-depth understanding of anatomy, Beth guides her students through exercises that improve muscular-skeletal alignment and nervous system regulation.

Beginning with grounding techniques and body awareness, Beth’s methods take learners on a journey towards higher musicianship and vocal freedom.  You will practice advanced musical skills including ear-training, counter-melody, body percussion, vocal tone, group improvisation, harmony and listening.

All of this leads to improved interaction with other singers, greater spontaneity when creating music, and a fuller artistic presence.

"Beth provides a fun and safe space to explore my voice in a small group. She is an engaging teacher/facilitator - thoughtful, sensitive, and encouraging. I've learned so much about my potential and, as a shy singer, I'm delighted to have made so much progress sharing my voice with other people."

Kim Goodliffe, Vocal Improv Facilitator (SoundBody Studio, Victoria)

I enjoy Beth’s somatic approach to voice facilitation. She creates a space where I can practice both my vocal improv skills and my ability to be present with my own emotions. I participated in Beth’s online vocal improv classes for over a year during the pandemic and came to rely on the group connections and the chance to connect with myself as much as the opportunity to sing.  I was amazed at how satisfying I found the experiences of exploring and learning using Zoom. Just like attending an in-person Vocal Improv class or workshop, I have made great friends and musical connections. I highly recommend her classes to everyone!
